Matthew 14:30-31
30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Jesus is always on time, He is a very present help in times of trouble.
Sometimes we go through storms thinking we are alone, but Jesus Christ was there all along. Sometimes we allow ourselves to drown in fear, doubt, insecurity and in failure, when all Jesus needs to hear is the word and He will step in.
Jesus wants to be invited into your life, into all areas. He wants to be involved but He will not force himself on you. He desires for you to humble yourself, admit you need him and cry out for help. When will you ask Him to save you?
One Sunday, I went shopping to buy some stationary. It wasn’t until I got back to the train station near my house that I realized I had lost my card wallet. Panic set IN. Let me be honest it was panic central.
My student ID, my debit card, my credit card. So many thoughts racing through my head: What if someone has maxed out my credit card? In a foreign country, the last thing you want is to be is tight with cash.
Worry and fear swarmed me. My heart was racing, I reached a stand still. Then I remembered I had Jesus.
I stopped and I whispered Jesus Jesus Jesus. Immediately, I had peace. There I was stood in the middle of the train station praying “Lord help me, you are in control, you are sovereign, help me. I know you see all things, and nothing occurs without your knowing, please give me peace and may your will be done.”
My heart that was racing before slowed right down. I was close to tears before, but my joy was made complete again in Him! Jesus Christ was my Prince of Peace.
I never did relocate my card wallet but in all honesty the outcome isn’t important, I learned a very valuable lesson. It’s your disposition during the storm that God sees. It’s how you react during trying situations that will show God how much you trust Him. It’s crying out to Him that will enable you to soar above the storm.
Jesus doesn’t promise us that everything will be easy, but He does promise us He will be there.
This may seem trivial, but the principle I want you to take away from my story is this: As soon as you cry out to the Savior, no matter how hard or helpless the situation looks, He WILL immediately stretch our His hand to help you. He is never too far away, He’s just ONE prayer away.
